Hello! Aaliyah here, again, because Chey actually has a life and isn’t avoiding her responsibilities LOL.
So I kinda have a love/hate relationship with subscription boxes. I hate it because I live in the middle of nowhere, so shipping is almost always the same price of the box itself, which means I end up paying double. I love it because they’re so beautiful and I want them all 😂 Because they cost so much for me, I only get ones that I am sure to love. So far I’ve only gotten one OwlCrate (which was an amazing birthday gift from my friend) and 2 FairyLoots. I am currently waiting for my January OwlCrate though and I hope it gets here sooooooon.
So here’s an unboxing and a general description of the January FairyLoot. The theme was Talk Faerie To Me and I knew what the book was and I am high key obsessed with fae, so I naturally had to get the box LOL.
I couldn’t pick which picture to use so I used them both hahaha. I honestly did really like this box, but there were some things I wish were different, which I will talk about in a second.
So the first item was teased on FairyLoot’s Instagram page, so I knew it was coming; a pillowcase designed by Evie Bookish. I love the design and the quote, but I don’t really use cushions, so it’s currently sitting in the box. But I do plan on having my own library one day, with all the bookish merch, so I’ll just save this for that hahaha.
The next item was a Prince Cardan candle from Meraki Candles. I don’t like the smell of this that much, mostly because I prefer fruity smells, but it isn’t terrible. Prince Cardan is a character from the book of the month, and I like the fact that they are including items in the box from the book itself.
Next up was either a Seelie or Unseelie lip balm from Geeky Clean. I got the Unseelie one, which fits because I’m evil LOL. The packaging says it is honey flavored, but it smells more like beeswax to me, and I am not a fan.
The next item was a Faerieland coloring book. I am a huge fan of coloring books (I have way too many) so I’m not complaining. The book is full of mythical creatures, with a little bit about their lore on the opposite page and I really like it.
Next is probably my favorite item in the whole box: magnetic Feysand bookmarks. These are designed by @silketara on Instagram, who draws the most adorable renditions of characters. The bookmarks themselves are made by Dreamy and Co. THEY’RE SO CUTE!
Finally the last items before the book of the month were two reversible art prints.
On one side was Rowan and Aelin, drawn by Diana Worak. I love this so much, the characters look so beautiful and perfect OMG.
The other sides had two quotes designed by Stella’s Bookish Art, whose work I also love.
And then finally we have the book of the month, which is probably not a surprise to anyone at all. It’s The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and I have heard so many good things about it, so I am fucking dying to read it! It also came with an art print of Prince Cardan, which is super cool.
So that was the January FairyLoot. What did you guys think? And what are your thoughts on subscription boxes in general?
